Chelsea stunned by West Ham in Premier League upset

West Ham ends Chelsea's eight-match unbeaten run

Arthur Masuaku's late winner seals victory for the Hammers

Chelsea's Premier League title hopes suffered a major setback on Saturday as they were stunned by a resilient West Ham United side at the London Stadium.

Despite dominating possession, Chelsea failed to break down a resolute West Ham defense that was well-organized and disciplined.

The Hammers took the lead against the run of play in the 62nd minute when Arthur Masuaku fired home a stunning long-range effort.

Chelsea were dealt a further blow when they were reduced to 10 men in the 84th minute after Mateo Kovacic was sent off for a second bookable offense.

Despite their numerical disadvantage, Chelsea continued to push for an equalizer but West Ham held on to secure a famous victory.

The result leaves Chelsea three points behind leaders Manchester City with just four games remaining in the season.

West Ham, meanwhile, move up to seventh place in the table and boost their hopes of securing a Europa League spot.
