Chelsea cruise to victory against already-relegated Bristol City

WSL title bid remains alive as reigning champions secure comfortable win

Nuskan and Reiten on target as Blues maintain top spot

London, England - Reigning champions Chelsea maintained their Barclays Women's Super League title bid with a comfortable 2-0 victory over already-relegated Bristol City at Kingsmeadow on Sunday.

Guro Reiten and Pernille Harder were on target for the Blues, who remain top of the table with seven games remaining.

Bristol City, who were relegated last weekend, gave a good account of themselves but were ultimately outclassed by the reigning champions.

Chelsea took the lead in the 23rd minute when Reiten crossed for Nusken, who headed home from close range.

The Blues doubled their lead just six minutes later when Harder latched on to a long pass and fired a low shot into the bottom corner.

Bristol City had a chance to pull a goal back late in the first half but Yana Daniels' Header was well saved by Ann-Katrin Berger.

The visitors continued to press in the second half but Chelsea held firm and created several chances of their own.

Reiten went close to adding a third in the 65th minute with a low shot that sailed just wide of the post.

Chelsea will now turn their attention to their upcoming Champions League semi-final against Bayern Munich, while Bristol City will look to finish the season on a high.
